Who we are
This website is run by Musthafa Jewellers, 99, Bazaar Street, Chilaw, Sri Lanka. We are responsible for the personal information collected through it. If you have any questions about this policy or your information, email us at musthafajewellers@gmail.com.
What we collect and why
Website statistics (Google Analytics) — only if you accept
If you click Accept in our cookie banner, we use Google Analytics, a service provided by Google, to understand how visitors use the site, such as which pages and pieces are most popular, so we can improve it. Google Analytics collects:
- the pages you visit and how long you stay;
- your device type, browser and screen size;
- your approximate location (city or country, worked out from your IP address);
- how you arrived at our site (for example, from a search engine or a social media link);
- a random identifier stored in a cookie, so repeat visits can be recognised.
We do not use this information to identify you, and we do not use Google Analytics for advertising. If you clickDecline or don't choose, no analytics cookies are set. Google may still receive basic, cookieless signals (such as that a page was viewed), which it uses only to estimate overall visitor numbers.

Enquiries on WhatsApp
When you send us an enquiry, the website opens WhatsApp with a message containing the pieces you chose and anything you typed, such as your name and notes. Nothing is sent until you press send in WhatsApp yourself. We use your messages and phone number only to answer your enquiry and serve you as a customer. WhatsApp is provided by Meta and is covered byWhatsApp's privacy policy.
Information saved only on your device
The site remembers a few things in your browser's local storage so it works the way you expect. This stays on your device and is not sent to us:
- your enquiry list, so it is still there as you move between pages;
- your light or dark theme preference;
- your cookie choice, so we don't ask again on every visit.
Fonts
Our fonts are loaded from Google Fonts. To deliver them, Google receives your IP address and browser details. Google states it does not use this to build profiles or for advertising.
Cookies we use
| Name | Provider | Purpose | Expires |
|---|---|---|---|
_ga | Google Analytics | Tells visitors apart | 2 years |
_ga_* | Google Analytics | Keeps track of your current visit | 2 years |
These cookies are only set after you click Accept. We don't use any advertising cookies.
Changing your choice
You can change your mind at any time by clicking (also at the bottom of every page). You can also delete cookies or block them in your browser's settings.
Who we share information with
We do not sell your information. It is only handled by the services described above — Google (Analytics and Fonts) and Meta (WhatsApp) — which process it on their own systems, which may be outside Sri Lanka and the European Union, including in the United States. These providers use contractual safeguards for international transfers.
How long we keep it
- Google Analytics statistics linked to the cookie identifier are deleted after 2 months. Overall totals (such as monthly visitor numbers) may be kept longer.
- WhatsApp conversations are kept for as long as needed to serve you, and you can ask us to delete them.
- Information saved on your device stays until you clear it from your browser.
Your rights
Under Sri Lanka's Personal Data Protection Act, No. 9 of 2022, and, if you are in the European Union or the UK, the GDPR, you have the right to:
- ask what information we hold about you and get a copy;
- ask us to correct or delete it;
- withdraw your consent at any time (this doesn't affect anything done before you withdrew it);
- object to or ask us to limit how we use it.
To use any of these rights, email musthafajewellers@gmail.com. If you are not happy with our response, you can complain to theData Protection Authority of Sri Lankaor, in the EU or UK, your local data protection authority.
Changes to this policy
If we change how we handle your information, we will update this page and the date at the top.
